In Memoriam: John L. Young (EFF)

The Electronic Frontier Foundation has posted a somewhat belated memorial for John Young, the founder of Cryptome.

John was one of the early, under-recognized heroes of the digital age. He not only saw the promise of digital technology to help democratize access to information, he brought that idea into being and nurtured it for many years. We will miss him and his unswerving commitment to the public's right to know.

We don't, as a rule, delete comments - but we will remove offensive comments when necessary as I've done here.

It's best to report these types of things to lwn@lwn.net rather than in the comments. We do try to monitor all comments, of course, but we definitely read everything that comes to the group inbox. That's the fastest and surest way to report anything (typos, errors, news, and site problems).

Thanks for your comments.
