Is it even a "first reaction" ? It sure sounds like that there was previous discussion about this approach, were presumably the technical reasons for the "hate" were explained -- note: I am talking about the approach, *not* the patchset.

I did not hunt for it, though.

The rest of the article makes it clear that the "hated" approach does have a chance of being adopted if the alternatives prove to be worse...

>Is it even a "first reaction" ?

Well, it doesn't matter. Because either way this is not a sane answer.

It
- Is literal hate.
- Has no information at all what could be wrong. It misses the important word "because". Even the sentence "I still think this is bad because of the things we discussed earlier" is way better than this.

It causes nothing to resolve the situation.
It only causes related persons to feel bad.
The only answer that can be given is "what is wrong then?". Which is what actually happened. Why not start with explaining what is wrong?

This is all true no matter if there was previous discussion on the topic.
Can we please all (including myself) try to avoid such messages altogether?

I'll stop here, because this is not really on topic. (But it's not on-topic anywhere).
