Please read the Wikipedia article more carefully: i960 was essentially RISC with added pieces of iAPX432 on top (in the “object oriented” BiiN version).
The “base” version (without BiiN silliness) was a success, while all that “object oriented” crazyness was only used in some government-related projects (and while details are classified we can assume that it was mostly for buzzword-compliance because there was no successor).
