As a sysadmin I desperately long for a time when they do change more quickly because the bane of my existence are LTS distros that need me to support ten year old stuff and brand new stuff at the same time. Because oddly enough nobody who runs those distros ever wants to stick to just software released back in the ancient times when that distro major version was first released. if you told me tomorrow that every distro stopped providing support for longer than 2 years or even 1 year that would be amazing for my stress levels.
