This doesn't happen on my X390. I'm running Ubuntu 20.04 with the default Ubuntu GNOME desktop, except I prefer the Wayland session.

About the only breakage I've observed is that Mesa bug that makes mpv crash in Wayland sessions.

I have a Lenovo X390 that I dist-upgraded from 18.04 to 20.04, and a netbook (Hypa Flux) that I installed 20.04 on fresh. Xubuntu on both.

Both are quite zippy, thank you! The only oddness is that "suspend" now takes 20 seconds to actually suspend, and this is on both of them.

Oh dear. My VPS is stuck on 16.04, but at least that's still a supported release!

(OpenVZ containers on a custom 2.6 kernel, what fun!)

Sweet. Maybe someday my VPS provider will support something newer than 12.04, if not 20.04 then at least something within the support lifecycle.

I've had the same experience, that after upgrading to 19.10, the performance regressed severely on my laptops. I've seen extreme type lag and stuck key repeats in Firefox, and long stalls, where nothing happens for dozens of seconds when I say alt-tab between two application windows in Gnome.

I upgraded to 20.04 this morning, too soon to say if the problem is gone.

I should note that while its been bad the problem comes and goes, and I've found no clear pattern when it occurs, so I haven't bothered reporting it.

My current laptop (2015 Thinkpad Yoga 12) has been running (x)ubuntu since the beginning. The previous update, 19.10, really slowed it down. I'm not sure what happened. I substantially trimmed the software stack (I already used i3+xfce4-panel, not gnome/unity), switched from Chrome to Firefox, etc. Didn't really help a lot but it was too complicated to roll back to 19.04. 20.04 seems to have fixed most issues, luckily. Have been using it since pre-beta.
