Now this isn't to say that existing branding doesn't have value and you should simply throw it away. It needs careful consideration but Openoffice isn't quite a good comparison point. Phoenix -&gt; Firebird -&gt; Firefox or even Sodipodi -&gt; Inkscape might be.
