Try proprietary Unix vendors like SUN. Oracle hasn't been much of a going concern on SCO for quite some time now. I am not sure if it ever was.

Now, the problem with your thesis is the HIGH COST of Oracle itself. It now even dwarfs the cost of the Sun hardware it might run on. So the notion that anyone is going to save themselves lots of money by running Oracle on Linux is rather laughable. This is especially true if they are running clustered Oracle (RAC).

If you can afford Oracle, the cost savings of Linux aren't very interesting.

What are you talking about?

Oracle does run on Windows (better than MS SQL Server, IMHO). 10g may not be released for Windows yet, but you can still get a free (for development/testing purposes) copy of 9i here with a free OTN account.

Oracle doesn't run on top of Windows, so I don't see Microsoft loosing
market share with this deal. This is more a thread to proprietary UNIX
vendors like SCO.
