Having worked *inside* a large company producing ASICs, let me assure you that that header file was probably generated from an Excel spreadsheet, which was generated by synthesis tools from a set of VHDL files, which were generated from a high-level schematic block diagram in a proprietary binary format, which was implemented by a placement student 10 years ago and the source for which has subsequently been lost. Also, the Excel spreadsheet has been hand-annotated in Japanese with illuminating comments like "not before 0xffe" and "not working".

I'm not entirely joking.

Raises the question of the documenation. How much of this stuff is actually documented? I'm not talking about “how much have described in the documentation AMD gave to open-source community”, but about “how much is this stuff have ANY documentation except for some comments in HDL code for the chip?”
