Sigh! Yesterday I saw the acoustic hack bit of the GnuPG announcement while checking Debian upgrades in. My first reaction, WHAT, no? Today seeing this announcement was really nice to see for further information, but news about acoustic hacks weren't over for the day.

A finnish weekly journal of technology and economics had a news bit (sorry, in finnish) that a german team has made an ultrasonic network with couple laptops. The journal links to an article of Scientific America. The journal only briefly mentions the original source, which seems to be this.

As a related topic to acoustic computer communications, about a month ago there was this high flying article about "BadBIOS" in ArsTechnica, where a security researcher thought that he's computers were hit by a firmware malware using ultrasonic communication for spreading. This sounded pretty far reaching then, but now one or two steps closer to reality, but...pretty interesting.
Fri, 20 Dec 2013 14:10:32 +0000 Snowden Privacy Blankets https://lwn.net/Articles/577777/ https://lwn.net/Articles/577777/ deconfliction
This hilariously hit the news just days after Keith Alexander went on 60 minutes, and called Snowden a "weirdo" for using a "Snowden Privacy Blanket" with his laptop.
