Nokia still owns Qt and holds the copyright, and the purpose of the Free Qt Foundation is to ensure that if the ownership or license changes, then KDE will be guaranteed to be able to use a Free toolkit. But since they changed the license to LGPL, there was not much point in this construct anyway, IMHO. (What's the point in releasing LGPL'ed code under BSD license? As I read the agreement, they cannot release the code Nokia would add to Qt after taking it proprietary; but I might have misinterpreted that.)<br> </div> Tue, 13 Sep 2011 09:01:10 +0000 The Qt Project is about to launch https://lwn.net/Articles/458674/ https://lwn.net/Articles/458674/ danieldk <div class="FormattedComment"> As a user of Qt, I am a bad worried about the 'Qt Quick is the future, traditional widgets are in maintenance mode'-direction that Qt has been heading in.
