If and when it does happen, it will be done piecemeal over a number of releases, unless Linus changes his mind. Kbuild is not on the agenda at the kernel summit next week, and Keith Owens will not be there, but I wouldn't be surprised if the topic came up anyway. Stay tuned... Fri, 21 Jun 2002 16:21:37 +0000 Just want to say thank you https://lwn.net/Articles/3162/ https://lwn.net/Articles/3162/ proski I see that most announcements about 2.5.x kernels don't have any comments. That's not surprizing - people working with 2.5.x kernels are busy fixing and improving them. Those "sitting" on the 2.4.x branch may not feel right to comment on 2.5.x kernels - it's not Slashdot, where it's a commonplace to comment on articles without reading them.
I just want to reassure the editors that those reports are very important. I always read them to see if there is anything that can affect the drivers I'm working on. In particular, the information about devicefs I found in one of the LWN reports was important for me, and I'm already planning for using it in my driver when it's compiled with the new kernels.
I'm going to try the next kernel when the new build system by Keith Owens is merged. I hope it will happen soon, and I read every announcement to see if it has been merged.
Good job, LWN editors! Thank you. Fri, 21 Jun 2002 15:38:14 +0000
