Management then had legal /draught/ a suitable copyleft licence.. bit more than choose. There was fairly wide consultation on this internally with Solaris engineering, cause I remember Fred Zlotnick - acting Director of Solaris Engineering then - visiting and making a point of asking me my opinions about the licence Sun were writing and considering for Solaris. Clearly part of deliberate wide internal consultation, given I was just an ordinary MTS/3 then (though, was known for working on external open-source stuff) - didn't usually talk to directors. ;)
