Eyewitness Account of Blepp's Speech in Germany (Groklaw)

Groklaw has an informal report from a speech made by SCO executive Gregory Blepp in Germany. "Someone needs to send Mr. Blepp the memo that mum's the new word at SCO. He spills the beans that SCO at the beginning just wanted IBM to pay them some millions for 'copyright infringement', and they are puzzled why that didn't happen."

This speech clearly hasn't gotten updated for the current state of affairs. They now claim that IBM violated their contract, but want to charge end users money. For what, exactly? If IBM licensed code it owned to people, even if this violated a contract it had, those people still have a license to the code. Even if SCO wins a contract suit, they would have to find language starting that IBM's business was a work for hire for SCO in order for licenses that IBM granted to code they wrote to be invalid.

It is possible that SCO, if it were to win big against IBM, could extract from IBM some money for every Linux system, but SCO isn't even alleging anything that would let them collect money from anyone they don't have a contract with.
