Hmm... If there's a way to get the list of processes that hold secret data, then this is not necessary. User-space can just SIGKILL them before hibernating.

Killing applications before hibernating defeats the whole purpose of hibernation.

Well, refusing to hibernate also defeats its whole purpose.
