So I (Kurt Seifried) was on the CVE Board for many years before I resigned in Jan 2021 (https://cve.mitre.org/community/board/). I think that might count as "in contact". The reality is my participation on the CVE Board was ineffective, change had died (witness the number of CVEs issued, it's basically flat-lined for several years). We tried working with them, we really did.
