Improving idle behavior in tickless systems

Is there an archive of system traces for different kinds of systems (laptops, servers, industrial/embedded, etc.)? Sounds like a *great* class project to suggest for machine learning using point processes. (Other twisted idea: BPF for modifying the predictor...)
