========================================================================== Ubuntu Security Notice USN-3792-3 October 22, 2018 net-snmp vulnerability ========================================================================== A security issue affects these releases of Ubuntu and its derivatives: - Ubuntu 18.10 Summary: Net-SNMP could be made to crash if it received specially crafted network traffic. Software Description: - net-snmp: SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) server and applications Details: USN-3792-1 fixed a vulnerability in Net-SNMP. This update provides the corresponding update for Ubuntu 18.10. Original advisory details: It was discovered that Net-SNMP incorrectly handled certain certain crafted packets. A remote attacker could possibly use this issue to cause Net-SNMP to crash, resulting in a denial of service. Update instructions: The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following package versions: Ubuntu 18.10: libsnmp30 5.7.3+dfsg-1.8ubuntu3.18.10.1 In general, a standard system update will make all the necessary changes.
