I had to provide some info on a system, which had a Linux validation. IIRC it was an issue after BIOS updates and some kind of id's needed updating.
So systemd adds yet another option and feature, whilst GNOME supposed UI, refuses to let the User Interact, but decides systemd knows best .. meh
