I'm surprised noone has already talked about fish.

It has an excellent solution for paste protection: the text is simply displayed on multiple lines. Only a real hit on the Enter key executes the command.

Of course, it is not a readline-based shell. But that was really useful for me, more than one time. Especially when the paste buffer contains wrong values from a previous copy I forgot about.
