A look at terminal emulators, part 1

A quick look at Emacs' "M-x ansi-term":

* Unicode support: excellent, as you might expect. Supports bidi, and right-justifies rtl text.
* Paste protection: not strong.
* Tabs & profiles: outstanding support (including tiling) though it may require some configuration tweaks. But you have the full power of elisp for playing around.
* Eyecandy: No truecolor support *at all*. It's an ANSI terminal.
* Performance: It's written in elisp. Of course it's slow. :)
