I used Emacs as this was the example given in the previous poster's comment.

The comment suggested that "volunteers would want their work to last more than a couple of years" was a contradiction to delivering newer versions of the software.

I simply clarified that if this were the case, that this would apply to even the given example and was thus not very likely.

Plasma has already passed "a couple of years", some of KDE's softwares have been in use for more than a decade.
