I think the releases are getting messy. Too many things to remember and use. Can't we get back the good old days?

One stable release.

Rest rc's

Sound lunatic??? can't help . But gradually it's piling up too many things ,and soon will be a nightmare for the maintainers as well as users,if it is not already.

An important set of stable kernel updates

It's not that complicated. Look at the front page of kernel.org: there's one -rc series, one active stable release, and then ignore the rest.

The remainder of the versions listed on that page are meant as a lifeline for unfortunate people who have no choice but to use old kernels, due to Someone Else's Politics (support contracts, proprietary drivers/apps).
