Well, time will tell how well proposed changes could be accepted. E.g. if it works out as good as, or better than Python's PEPs then things indeed will be wonderful.

This is also in direct competition to Docker and is a result of CoreOS and Docker competing for customers, each is building a partner ecosystem and incompatible file formats are a way to defend your revenue. I don't see this spec as technology so much as business strategy.
