For those who are curious, Groklaw has posted a transcript of the hearing on IBM's motions to compel in the SCO case. Scroll down past the first version; there is a more complete transcript appended to the article. There is a second article giving details on what SCO has been ordered to provide to IBM, and yet another article by a guest author on where things go from here. "SCO must now turn their reluctant eyes to The Code. Everything they now disclose, if they do, has likely been copyrighted and distributed under the General Public License --distributed BY THEM. They will then have to try to convince the Court to disregard their nine years of distributing Linux under the GPL, pleading incompetence, I imagine."

When SCO's representatives come in for the oral arguments, they sat on
the defendant's side. The deputy had to tell them where they were
supposed to be sitting. I thought that SCO was dropping their software
business to focus on suing people, but they don't seem to know any more
about suing people than they do about software.

Apparently Darl's brother is not very familiar with court room etiquette.

For example, he wouldn't ask the judge, "May I approach the bench?" before he went to give her printouts.

He does not seem too familiar with the case either.
Judge: What about the pages in non-machine-readable format?
K. McBride: We gave them all our source code.
Correct Answer: That was an initial misunderstanding and I believe we have corrected that.

Why would he even say something like this? "There is no trade secret in Unix System 5. Copyright yes." "There are trade secrets in UnixWare... that was given to IBM in the joint development project."

Just for interest, is Kevin McBride actually an attourney? Maybe Darl threatened to reveal exactly what *did* happen to that Teddy Bear, all those years ago, if Kevin didn't do this one simple thing for him... ;-)?

Wow, I can imagine that drawing must really infuriate the Linux kernel hackers. "Linux = AIX + UNIX + Misc code"???

I think the share price reflects the trust of the investors among other things. Investors risk their money and it's expected that they would do some research before they buy shares. I don't think there are so many newbies on the stock market as in 1999-2000. There were attempts to mislead SCO shareholders, and it's nice to see them fail.

OK, maybe all that is not important at all. I'm not a trader and I leave the judgement to those who actually own shares and risk their wealth every day.
