The Mer 'distribution' not only shipped a release using Wayland but Jolla shipped a product using it as part of their SailfishOS.

That also means that

"FirefoxOS is, indeed, commercially available, but Sailfish OS and Tizen are just getting off the ground"

seems a tad unfair since the ~70 person Jolla team delivered an OS, UI and designed and shipped a device before the big boys managed to. Personally I'd say that having a device in bricks & mortar shops is way past "just getting off the ground".

Nb ... yes, the Jolla online store is open now - and anyone in the US or elsewhere who wants a device just has to find an EU shipping location for the store; and with such a community driven foundation that shouldn't be hard :)

(well, as open as we could possibly make it so far ... but we've not stopped yet either)
