The problem is that systemd is the *entire system*. Systemd is an all or nothing approach.
I can't stand gnome but there are some programs from it I use with my kde desktop instead of the kde natives. This works fine because there is a standard for desktop communication.
There is an analogous standard for exchanging parts of the systemd *entire system*: fuck off.
