I started using Linux in 1996, so quite a long time. :)

It's fun to say "I run Linux 3.8.6 for x86_64!"

I find it more amusing that you can also run it on ARM.

I find the lack of i386 support in Linux 3.8.6 disturbing.

It's a new fad. Chrome is called Chrome because it tries to minimize chrome, Blink is called Blink because it does not support blink thus of course Linux 3.8.6 does not support 386! Works as intended!

Will Linux 4.8.6 drop 486 support, too? Time will tell...

More to the point, will 3.8.7 drop FPU support?
