In my opinion, a good move showing support for women in open source would be to ban the aggressors after 3 incidents. Or at least ban them from posting comments until the article is public - by that point, the more respectful paid members would have had a chance to set a more positive tone in the article's comments.

I would chip in to help pay for the revenue lost by delaying posting by offenders. Anyone else in?

I'm not advocating banning anyone from LWN. I'm really referring to the industry in general.
