kinda it does,

0 io:~# modprobe -l
modprobe: invalid option -- 'l'
1 io:~# dpkg -S `which modprobe`
kmod: /sbin/modprobe

kmod replaced module-init-tools everywhere. anyway it is an 'issue' with kmod and not (e)udev

WORKSFORME - on Ubuntu 12.10 and on the recent Debian. Perhaps you haven't installed module-init-tools?

I've got module-init-tools installed on Beefy Miracle and 'modprobe -l' also doesn't work for me. I didn't realize until this thread that kmod was responsible for breaking it.
