Raspberry Pi now comes in Firefox OS flavour (The Register)

The Register reports that Mozilla's Firefox OS has been successfully ported to run on the diminutive Raspberry Pi platform. The port was apparently done by a Nokia employee, but is a side project: "Romashin seems to have undertaken this work off his own bat. So let’s stick to lame puns on “pie”, shall we, rather than wondering what Redmond will say about Nokia playing with an OS other than Windows Phone."

Mozilla should have hired Romaxa already to work on mobile Firefox for Linux (not Android), Qt Firefox, IPC embedding ( https://wiki.mozilla.org/Embedding/IPCLiteAPI ) and so on.

A great move by the Nokia employee to get the attentions of, and hopefully get hired by, a company that recognises his talent before he gets laid off by his current, failing employer.

They should be shipping now they are on general availability. The factories are churning our 4000 a week and I got mine within about 2 weeks of ordering. I hope your not still waiting for an email from RS to invite you to order?

I got invite to order and of June, and they did say it's 10 week lead time for delivery, so I'm not disappointed with RS.

Also I live in a small mountain village in the French Alpes, a bit out of the way, so it's feasible it's gone missing en route, although RS still didn't send a shipping ack yet.

Oh well, have to console myself playing with a neat little MIPS board that turned up, although it doesn't have a load of GPIO pins that the PI does, which is really what I want to have a play with ;-)
