change group on the fly for a directory is possible like this:

as root:

# mkdir /g/distfiles
# chown portage:portage /g/distfiles
# chmod 6775 /g/distfiles
# touch /g/distfiles/pippo
# ls -l /g/distfiles/pippo
-rw-r--r-- 1 root portage 0 May 18 16:40 /g/distfiles/pippo

however I would really love to see the feature of userid swapping applyable to bind mounts.
