I've seen account-based community currency packages used for business accounts a while ago. Not sure whether this approach is likely a very good fit to LWN.NET business needs, but double entry bookkeeping has more than one purpose I guess. Those developing CC software tend to prefer this to be Free Software/Open Source as a matter of principle. Money should be accountable to the community which uses it.

No harm using one of these engines and developing input forms and output reports to match the API. Possibly the Timebanks have similar software, so there might be a few other viable packages out there of a similar nature.
