OpenOffice.org Community Contributor Vote

All,

The Community Council is nearly ready. To make it ready, you need only  
to vote for the Community Contributor Representative (CCR).  The CCR  
will be a community voice, is not a lead of an "Accepted Project," and  
is supposed to be representing the interests of the users as much as  
developers. The CCR candidates have been nominated by the community and  
further selected by all the project leads in all three categories  
according to the provisions of the Council proposal (see, for  
background,  
http://www.openoffice.org/servlets/ 
ReadMsg?msgId=783205&listName=discuss ).  Below are instructions how to  
vote and brief statements by the three candidates.

To vote:
	1. login (you must be a registered member to vote)
	2. click on the "Council Vote" link in the left navbar (you will only  
see it if you are logged in)
	3. vote for your #1 choice and for your #2 choice
	4. confirm your vote by clicking on the link automatically sent to you

That's it.  Once we have tallied the votes, which should take only a  
few days, we will be able to announce the Community Council.

Candidate statements

The candidates below have expressed willingness and capability to serve  
if elected. I asked the candidates to provide a short blurb about what  
they do and what they want to do. With minimal editing (and in no  
particular order):


*CPH (Con P. Hennessy):
	 Lead of Support Project (http://support.openoffice.org/), and active  
in user support, especially in getting together usable FAQs derived  
from user and discuss lists.  Developer interested in pyuno, and  
engaged in UDK, API, XML, QA, and dev@openoffice.org. Reason for  
wanting to be on the CC: To encourage the following:

"1) the increased communication between the user and developer community
so that the users understand what the developers are trying to achieve  
and
developers understand what the users expect;
2) a real foundation, so that it is possible for a charity to be setup  
and
to accept sponsorship and donations to aid the development and  
distribution of
openoffice.org.
3) the foundation should also act as the honest broker so that for users
requesting and willing to pay for specific features there should be a
mechanism fair to all
4) encourage more contributors to come onboard and help to improve
OpenOffice from all angles : documentation, templates, clipart,  
compatibility,
features, and integration with other tools."

*Alex Fisher
	Lead of CD-ROM sub-project (with Angelika Goeszler), active in  
users@openoffice.org, dev@marketing, and a major contributor to the  
Documentation Project (most recently revising the Setup Guide for  
OpenOffice.org 1.1).  Reason for wanting to join the CC:
	"I believe a combination of maturity, wide exposure to varied operating
systems, and an in-depth knowledge and understanding of OpenOffice.org  
would
allow me to contribute to the community. This Community has given me a
wonderful Office suite, and this is just one way I can give something  
back.
There is much that needs doing, and I do have some ideas of what can be  
done,
and how to do it. As a regular contributor to the discuss and users  
lists, I
am also aware of what other users are thinking."

*Diane Mackay
	Key member of Support Project, active on users@openoffice.org,  
discuss@ooo, and dev@marketing.  QA with IssueZilla.  Reason for  
wanting to join the CC:
	"I would like to see the community contributor representative seat  
held by community members that are not in leadership roles in the
