“CeBIT for all!”: Submit your entries now
Open Source projects and best practice presentations from the economy and
administration sectors on the Univention CeBIT stage
Univention, a manufacturer of infrastructure software, is organising an Open
Source stage once again at this year’s CeBIT in Hall 2. This stage will play
host to an extensive stage programme on all trade fair days with contributions
from important Open Source projects and companies, discussions and expert
interviews. Under the motto “CeBIT for all!” Univention is also offering
projects and small companies the chance to apply for a free presentation slot.
The call for paper will run until the 25th February 2012.
Bremen, 31.01.2012. At the CeBIT 2012, Univention is once again making a
number of free slots on the Univention Open Source stage in Hall 2 available
for the “CeBIT for all” event. Projects, small companies and creative parties
from the Open Source world can apply for the free presentation slots using the
online form at:
http://www.univention.de/en/about-univention/dates/cebit-...
/
Entries will be accepted until 25th February 2012. A jury will then select the
most exciting and topical subjects from all the submissions received.
Make way for Open Source
Any presentation with topics relating to Linux and Open Source software are
welcome including cloud computing with Open Source applications, hardware and
software monitoring, identity and IT service management, Linux clusters and
virtualization solutions or Open Source alternatives to Microsoft servers. The
most important selection criteria will be general interest, topicality and
relevance to a refined IT specialist audience.
The “CeBIT for all!” event is now already entering its third year. Its impetus
was and is the fact that Univention wants to offer developers, projects and
organisations in the Open Source world the possibility to introduce themselves
to a wider plenum within the scope of the CeBIT. The great feedback received
on the event in the past two years has reinforced the Bremen-based software
manufacturer's decision to provide free stage possibilities again this year.
Multifaceted programme: from Open Source project to business solution
However, the Univention Open Source stage also wants to offer a comprehensive
and diverse stage programme: In addition to discussions with Open Source
experts, the topic spectrum ranges from the planned cloud computing
presentations to infrastructure and IT service management, collaboration,
virtualization solutions to professional solutions for IT applications in
schools. The CeBIT visitors will receive first-hand interesting information at
the Univention stage, not the usual product and company presentations.
Highlight of the Univention stage: Jobs in the Open Source business
An additional highlight of the stage programme is the job hour on the last
CeBIT day: Saturday 10th March 2012 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This will give
Univention and a range of other leading Open Source software manufacturers and
service providers from across Germany a chance to introduce themselves and
answer questions directly as well as providing a perfect networking
opportunity.

About Univention
Univention is a leading European provider of Open Source products for the
cost-efficient operation and effective administration of IT infrastructures.
At the heart of our offer is the Linux infrastructure solution Univention
Corporate Server (UCS). UCS is a modern enterprise Linux distribution with an
integrated Open Source solution for identity and infrastructure management,
which makes efficient, centrally controlled administration possible even in
challenging environments – both in companies and in clouds. The core product
UCS is complemented with, among other things, products building on it for the
cross-platform administration of thin clients, an Open Source desktop for
professional users and an integrated server and desktop virtualization
solution. Thanks to the supplied connectors, the products are ideal for use
with for example the Microsoft Active Directory, integrate perfectly in
existing infrastructures and allow simple migration. An increasing number of
software manufacturers, including the groupware manufacturers Open-Xchange,
Zarafa and Kolab Systems, ECM manufacture and suppliers of VolP solutions
offer optimised packages for operation with UCS, which can be integrated in
the UCS management system among other things. UCS is thus the Open Source
integration platform for IT infrastructure operation and management.
