It is still a problem. There's not necessarily another journald-equipped system available. It's perfectly possible that an organization has, for example, a Linux server, a Windows server and a Solaris server, and on the desktop only has Windows and Mac OS X machines.
Again, absolutely no problem if your log files are text files. Show-stopper if your log files are binary, and especially if the binary format is not well defined.
