A meaningful test would be to try to rebuild your distribution and count the number of compiler-related failure (including wrong code generation) with each compilers.
For a distribution, reliability is as much important than performance.

Well, with gcc this number is near zero. So it's not interesting.

However, Open64 can lead to better performance in real-world apps just by changing gcc to Open64.
