Your assumptions about respect are wrong. Suggest to assume glass is full, not half empty. Then you can see that the developer already mentioned that on short term the goal is just to get it to work. But after that he/they'd turn either optimize or turn off various effects.

I don't expect it to be as fast as hardware, ever. But to me that is logical, not clearly disrespectful.
