'blind transfer' means that you basically transfer an existing call (that you have answered) to another extension - ie you don't care whether the person answers or not.
'attended transfer' means that you place a new call to the destination, ask them if they want the transfer, then complete (bridge the old and new call together).
'forwarding calls' is what happens when you just forward all incoming calls to another extension, without answering them.
the two types of 'transfer' are common in corporate PBXs (because you have employed people to answer the phones and screen calls), and uncommon for a home user.
support for forwarding is easy - all SIP softphones do it. support for blind transfers is almost as easy and most do it. attended transfer is more complex, and some softphones either do not implement it, or add it as a 'paid' feature.
