Announcements and News

Development continues apace for 1.9. While the mailing list is a little
on the quiet side, the developers have been anything but quiet.
#tahoe-lafs is full of activity. For just a `hint of the activity`_,
take a look here. I highly you following the ongoings of ticket 393_,
implementing MDMF. MDMF is the main feature of 1.9. Definitely
something to keep on your radar.

Free and Open Source Project of the Week

The Free and Open Source Project of the Week is Nilestore_. We
mentioned Nilestore previously in `TWN #5`_.

  "Nilestore is a secure and fault tolerant distributed storage system
  built using Kompics component model framework following the design of

  Nilestore provides means for the users to save their data remotely on
  multiple machines to increase the availability of the data and to
  limit the probability of data loss due to hardware failures." [1_]

Nilestore's web site provides a great `overview of Tahoe-LAFS`_.

From the tahoe-dev Mailing List

The mailing list was relatively quiet this week. However there were a
couple items of interest.

Shu Lin posted an `installation issue`_ with Tahoe-LAFS 1.8.2 on
Windows XP. As Zooko noted, this is the same issue with Nevow we
mentioned in `TWN #10`_.

Patch Needing Review of the Week

Rather than single out any new patch, this week is dedicated to all the
new patches going into 1.9. So headed on here_ and pick a patch to
review. Currently there are 3 patches needing review for 1.9. Let's
see if we can't halve that number by next week. Awesome job by everyone
to reduce this number by 3 patches from last week. The remaining
patches are:

 * 393_ - mutable: implement MDMF
 * 1425_ - blacklist support
 * 1398_ - make docs/performance.rst more precise and accurate
