This reminds me of djb's /service directory from the daemontools. Nice to see that this idea of daemontools comes back to life after so many years.

DJB has a lot of great ideas. Sadly they are usually tightly intermixed with bunch of insane ideas so they tend not to gain traction till someone reinvents them years later.
