Red Hat's "obfuscated" kernel source

I have tried, and failed, to built RH's kernel with a radically different configurations. Let it suffice to say this is a serious server configuration without any graphics support and the build bombed out with a compiler error.
I suspect RH's stock configurations work but mine did not.

I managed to build stock 2.6.32.9 with configuration any problem but I have no clue how close this is to the RH tar ball.
