Apache resigns from the Java Community Process executive committee

Mono is not, by any stretch of the imagination, a suitable replacement for Java. All you would accomplish is changing your masters from Oracle to Microsoft. Mono is at least as encumbered by patents as Java is. Just say no to Mono.

(Isn't Mono the kissing disease? That should be warning enough. They lure you in with a pretty face before they hit you with the virus.)

If Apache leaves Java behind then it should find or sponsor a patent free alternative language. An interpreted version of C++ would probably be least painful. I am not a C++ fan but what is closer to Java? Java has a huge memory foot print, I would welcome a reimagined alternative that is leaner, meaner, and faster.
