Apache resigns from the Java Community Process executive committee

I think most of us are aware that the Apache Foundation uses the Apache License :-)

My point was that even though the GPL goes to great lengths to ensure freedoms (much more so than the AL), and the "blessed" Java implementation is GPL, it is nevertheless impossible to develop another free implementation. It defies belief. But all this been said before...

In fact I did myself suspect a weakness in the GPL and warned against it back in 2006, though it came about in a different way:
