And an rpm -qR f-spot doesn't list anything odd: libexif, GLib, libjpeg, Mesa, Mono, X-Org.... No one has a desktop [especially a GNOME desktop] which doesn't have those resources available. I wish less software depended on CUPS, and desktop distributions would stop installing truckloads of printer related software, and running some of it at startup, despite that machine never having had a printer connected. I would be a lot happier with a desktop distribution that did *not* automatically install that junk, along with Bluetooth software I'll never use, Avahi, NetworkManager and similar rubbish that is of absolutely no use on a desktop system. Get yourself a modern processor and plenty of ram (I find my Athlon X3 with 4Gb just FLIES through an emerge) and you're laughing. But yes, my old system (Athlon 1400 running at the mobo 100FSB instead of 133 chip FSB ie downclocked to a 1050 processor, and ram maxed out at 756Mb) is pretty awful slow.
