Certainly from the study I did for my masters, I came to the conclusion that diabetes is at least partly down to the modern habit of snacking all through the day.
Sugar is - biologically - an EXTREMELY nasty substance. Our bodies are designed to withstand a *temporary* assault when we eat and then get it back down to a low level where we clean up the mess it's caused. Except that snacking never lets it get that low ...
And hardening of the arteries is due to being overweight ... cholesterol is *meant* to stick to bloodcell walls, so the cells can absorb it, but if there's too much then it sits there and waits.
Cheers,
Wol
