What it basically shows is how intolerant the mainline kernel community
members have become towards people who hold a different view to them.
The attitude is: either conform or you're an idiot and we're going to
attack you until you conform.
I do hope others see what has happened here, and seriously consider
whether they want to get involved in a sniping dictatorial community.
Maybe considering to go down the BSD route instead.
Someone in this thread once said that he was amazed that ARM vendors
hadn't gone running to BSD due to my "attitude problem". Well, given
how I've been repeatedly hounded in the last couple of months, I
wouldn't be at all surprised if we don't see an overall reduction in
the takeup of Linux on ARM as people realise the kind of behaviour
they can expect when talking to mainline people.
Will I be going to this years kernel summit after how I've been treated
over this and the lies over the Google issue a couple of months ago?
Absolutely no way. I'm totally disgusted with the behaviour now being
shown by a powerful minority of the mainline kernel community, and I
don't see why I should end up in the same room as such a clearly
hostile group of people.
Does this mean I'll be giving up completely with ARM? No, I intend to
continue my work as before, just not running the contravertial mailing
lists. However, I really doubt that the attacks won't stop, and we'll
see more of them over the next few months.
But... maybe I'm paranoid. No, I don't think I am.
