The default behavior of free software is to respect the user. Data collection from the user needs to be opt-in.

Ubuntu/Canonical need to be wary at this point. They have grown so large and popular, the signs are there that they are beginning to abuse their position. The first sign (to me) was supporting Android applications on Ubuntu when there are so many fundamental things that still need work. The second thing is this use-monitoring firefox extension.

I do not donate money to the Ubuntu project to be spied on.
