Cooperation During the Gran Canaria Desktop Summit (KDE.News)

KDE.news takes a look at the cooperation between KDE and GNOME developers at the Gran Canaria Desktop Summit. "At the Gran Canaria Desktop Summit much cross-desktop work has been done. The days we have are being used for the Cross Desktop Tracks and during the talks there are KDE and Gnome developers mingling everywhere. Cross desktop sessions included bug triage, metadata sharing, instant messaging and sharing personal data cross-desktop with CouchDB."

This was an article I almost passed by because I believed it would be dry, full of generic talk that includes "interoperability" in each phrase.

It actually contains a few bits of technical detail to make it interesting.

One funny aspect was that A. Seigo used Skype to join the conversation, while I remember that at least QuteCom can be used to great success. For voice only, which is my impression they had, Twinkle is perfect. Funny enough, they are also both Qt based.

Skype is also uses QT.

OTOH, it doesn't use the KDE addressbook like Twinkle.

I'd love to hear what stuff you consider interesting and what is boring so
I can improve the stories for the next time...
