dlang, I'm not sure why you emphasize that “the problem with javascript isn't that it's hard to substitute your own version for what's provided by the website (it's not that hard to do this with tools like greasemonkey)”, as the article itself points to greasemonkey and other techniques, while also noting some problems with these techniques.

Apart from that, I don't actually follow your point about Javascript being generated code: I don't see that it makes much difference whether the original source code is non-minimized/obfuscated Javascript or whether it's some other language; the important point is that we don't have that source code. (Granted, there may be a quantitative difference in that if the original language is Javascript then the minimized form may be more readable than the output of a compiler.) Would you mind explaining what you mean by this being a problem, and how it affects the proposals in the article? Thanks.
