Subject:  [Immunix-announce] 7+-beta packages available
Date:  Wed, 19 Jun 2002 18:31:59 -0700

After more delay than we would like, WireX is pleased to announce the
beta release of RPM packages of our upcoming Immunix 7+ product. This
release also constitutes an omnibus security update package, so current
Immunix 7.0 users should consider applying these updates. We are not
proud of this omnibus approach, and hope not to have to repeat it.

Immunix 7+ is designed to be a gentle upgrade from Immunix 7.0,
incorporating security fixes and package version updates, but no radical
changes. As such, Immunix 7+ lies somewhere between Red Hat 7.0 and 7.3,
depending on the particular package.

The updates include: zlib double free fixes in many packages; OpenSSL
0.9.6b; apache chunked encoding and directory listing; glibc FTS races;
snmp tmp race and ASN.1 parsing problems; rsync signedness problems;
imap DOS; igawk tmp race; xfs denial of service attack; removed
uucp-writable makewhatis lockfile; XF86 update with many bugfixes;
enscript tmp race; tcpdump NFS buffer overflow; ghostscript tmp race;
sharutils unsafe file handling; sudo prompt overflow; at heap
corruption; pic format bug; sendmail signal handling; xloadimage
overflow; tar, cpio, gzip filesystem race fixes; webalizer cross-site
scripting (reverse DNS); stunnel format bug; crontab tmp race; bash and
filesystem added TMPDIR=3D~/tmp.

The Immunix 7+ packages also include all prior updates to the Immunix
7.0 system since its initial release.

The packages can be found here:

Ibiblio is gracious enough to host a mirror for us:

Ibiblio provides many geographic mirrors, you will probably get better
performance to use one near to you once they have synced with the main
Ibiblio archive. (Though we have heard the north american mirrors aren't
doing so well.)

Please report any problems you may have to the immunix users list:
